On 18 September of 2008, Barbara Swiecki, Suzanne Stack, Gina Jennison, and Barb Holland had the opportunity to apply their biceps to two Habitat houses in Rochester— one on Orange Street and another on Campbell Street. At the house on Orange Street, they worked at pouring and smoothing concrete footers and backfilling dirt against them.

When they finished there, they walked to the house on Campbell Street where they dug up weeds and hauled away stones. Finally, they were able to rake the yard and smooth it over just before it was seeded.

As these photographs attest, it was a rewarding and strengthening experience. They labored hard, accomplished a lot, and had the opportunity to work with a group of pleaseant people. (Do not try to arm-wrestle these women.)
